A two-post lift is the workhorse of most shops. The vehicle rides on four arms at its factory lift points, so the wheels hang free and the whole underside is open: brakes, exhaust, suspension, transmissions, all within reach.
Overhead models run a cross-beam across the top of the columns, which keeps the floor between the posts completely clear. Baseplate models (also called bottom-plate) route their cables and hydraulics across a low plate on the floor instead, so they fit garages where an overhead beam won't clear the ceiling.

It mostly comes down to ceiling height. Overhead lifts need more headroom for the top beam but leave the floor completely clear. Baseplate lifts have no overhead beam, so they fit lower ceilings. The Atlas BP8000 installs under ceilings as low as 9' 3". We measure before you buy.
The two-post lifts we carry run on 220V single-phase power with a 30A breaker. We confirm your electrical supply before install.
